Horniman Museum Conservatory Restoration

 Horniman Museum Conservatory Restoration with Victorian Pattern Tiles

Armatile recently manufactured a Victorian Style floor for the historically sensitive restoration of the beautiful Grade II Listed conservatory at The Horniman Museum in London. Our Victorian pattern tiles retained the feel of the previous floor and are in keeping with the aesthetic of the building.

Originally built at the Horniman family house at Coombe Cliffe, Croydon, in 1894 it was completely moved and rebuilt on its present site at Forest Hill between 1986-1989.

The new Victorian mosaic floor tiles commissioned by Richard Mc Carthy (Abbeymead Building, London) were designed and manufactured in Armatile’s factory in Armagh to the exacting specification of the Client to suit the particular layout of the conservatory floor. They look amazing!

Testimonial from the restoration Project Manager with Abbeymead Building - Sarah Woolner ;

“We sincerely appreciate your responsiveness and the way you in which you have conducted business with ourselves.  The project has been a complete success. When we handed over the conservatory to the museum on the 28th March the client complemented us on the high standard of works carried out.”

The fully restored and refurbished conservatory will now host events such as weddings and civil ceremonies.
