Our Story
An Irish family business built on tile expertise since 1975
Armatile began in Armagh in 1975, when James and Pat McCann started the business with carpet tiles sold from a shed.
From those early beginnings, Armatile grew into a high street tile shop, expanded its distribution network across Ireland and developed specialist manufacturing and fabrication facilities in Armagh.
Today, over 50 years later, Armatile remains a family business built on quality products, skilled craftsmanship and honest advice, supporting customers, designers and commercial projects across Ireland and beyond.
1975
Armatile begins in Armagh, founded by James and Pat McCann, starting with carpet tiles sold from a shed.
1978
The first retail store opens on English Street, establishing Armatile as a high street tile shop.
1990
Armatile expands its distribution network across the island of Ireland.
2000
A bespoke manufacturing and fabrication facility is established in Armagh, introducing specialist craft, mosaic assembly and advanced tile cutting capabilities.
2004
Armatile receives its first Tile Association Award for St. Patrick’s Cathedral, beginning a long track record of industry recognition.
2025
Armatile celebrates 50 years in business, with four showrooms, a strong family heritage and over five decades of tile expertise.
